From innovation to platform.
- 2017An invention makes headlines worldwide.
With the launch of the world's first industrially manufactured hemp-tobacco cigarette, Heimat wrote a piece of cannabis history. What had previously only been possible by hand was produced on an industrial scale for the first time, developed and manufactured in Steinach (Switzerland). The innovation generated worldwide media coverage and made the Heimat brand internationally known. Reports appeared in Europe, North America and Asia, among other regions.
- Q4 2017Breakthrough in Swiss retail.
As the first major Swiss retailer, Coop listed Heimat products nationwide, bringing a new product innovation into classic retail. This partnership marked a decisive milestone for Heimat and laid the foundation for the continuous expansion of the Swiss distribution network. What began with Coop is today a central part of Heimat's market infrastructure.
- 2019An idea becomes patented technology.
The industrial manufacturing of tobacco-free CBD cigarettes presented the industry with considerable technical challenges. Heimat developed its own manufacturing technology, which made the industrial manufacturing process possible for the first time. The process was patented internationally and remains the technological foundation of the platform to this day.
- 2024New owners. New vision. A new operating system for an entire industry.
The entry of a Swiss ownership group marked the start of Heimat's strategic realignment. From a successful product brand emerged the vision of a modular infrastructure platform connecting companies along the entire value chain, from research, genetics and manufacturing to white label and regulatory expertise, through to retail, e-commerce, pharmacies and medical cannabis. The goal is to create the operating system of the regulated cannabis economy, a scalable platform on which new business models, brands and international expansion can be built efficiently.
- 2025Establishment of Heimat Manufaktur AG.
The vision becomes a platform. With Heimat Manufaktur AG, the next development phase of Heimat begins. Brand, technology, intellectual property and manufacturing expertise form the foundation of the newly aligned company platform. On this basis, existing market structures are further developed, white-label activities expanded and new infrastructure modules created. An established Swiss brand becomes a modular infrastructure platform for regulated markets.
- Q2 2025The platform goes international.
With Moosmayr as distribution partner, Heimat transfers its platform model to a market outside Switzerland for the first time. Entry into the state-regulated Austrian monopoly and tobacconist system adds a structurally protected distribution channel with around 4,500 licensed points of sale to the platform. The step into Austria marks the beginning of the cross-border scaling of the Heimat platform.
- 2026The next step: medical cannabis.
Entry into the medical cannabis market marks the next chapter of the company's development. Plans include building a vertically integrated value chain, obtaining the necessary authorisations for the cultivation of medical THC flowers, and developing a proprietary GMP-compliant manufacturing infrastructure in Switzerland. In parallel, Heimat continues to expand its international platform and opens up new regulated markets.
- Q2 2026Vertical integration: cultivation becomes part of the platform.
With the acquisition of essence verte GmbH, Heimat integrates genetics, proprietary cannabis cultivation and raw material manufacturing into the company group. This extends the value chain from genetics and cultivation through product development and manufacturing to market access. The integration also creates the operational basis for building a medical cannabis division and the future supply of the Swiss healthcare market.
- Q3 2026From the pharmacy channel to pharmaceutical infrastructure.
With the activation of the pharmacy module, Heimat systematically opens up the Swiss healthcare market for the first time. A specially developed, pharmacy-suitable product line from Swiss manufacturing forms the operational market entry. This creates a new regulated distribution channel for Heimat and the foundation for the next stage of development in medical cannabis, cannabinoid-based therapies and pharmaceutical products, particularly for future applications in pain therapy and patient care.
